及时是in time还是on time

及时是in time，in是指在……之内，所以不难理解in time可以是指提前完成某事，是及时；on则是指在某一时间点上，是个确切的时间点，on time是指准时。

in time 经过一段时间之后； 迟早； 最后； 终于； 及时，不迟； 合拍，按照节拍；

in time举例：

The taxi skidded to a halt just in time.

出租车滑行了一段路后，及时停了下来。

We managed to get to the airport in time.

我们设法及时赶到了机场。

I arrived just in time for my flight to Hawaii.

我正好及时赶上飞往夏威夷的航班。

They learned to accept their stepmother in time.

过了一段时间之后他们学会了接受他们的继母。

There's a slight chance that he'll be back in time.

他及时赶回来的可能性不大。

I'm in a panic about getting everything done in time.
