常用于ask,doubt,know,wonder等动词后，引导名词从句，是否。

or not连用，固定搭配，引导状语从句，不管是.(或是)。

表示有两个或更多可能的选择或怀疑，还是。

whether or not = whether, 是从属连词，引导名词性从句或让步从句。

whether…or not例句

We're debating whether or not to go skiing this winter.

He was faced with the dilemma of whether or not to return to his country.

whether的用法

whether和if都可以表示“是否”，引导宾语从句。

or not放在whether之后时，只能用whether不用if。

例句：I don’t know whether or not he will come.

我不知道他是不是回来。

如果or not放在whether所引导的从句句尾，则可以用if来替换。

例句：I don’t know whether he will come or not.我不知道他是不是回来。

或者是I don’t know if he will come or not.我不知道他是不是回来。

to 动词的结构（即动词不定式）前只能用whether。

例句：I don’t know whether to go there at once.

我不知道是不是该立刻去那里。

从句作介词宾语时只用whether不用if。

例句：It depends on whether it will be fine.

那得看是不是晴天。

作discuss等动词的宾语时，用whether不用if。

例句：We discussed whether we should close the shop.
